Client Overview

The client contacted MBC Hires to provide marquee hire for two separate family events held at her home in Forest Gate. We first supplied a marquee for a family celebration in April 2024. Following a positive experience, the client returned in May 2025 to book a second event.

Both bookings required a well-presented garden marquee with a full interior finish, suitable for seated guests and socialising, while working within the constraints of a residential property.

The Brief and Site Constraints

A key challenge for both installations was restricted access to the rear garden. The property had no side access, meaning all marquee components, including the hard flooring, had to be carefully transported through the house.

Despite the access limitation, the client requested a fully dressed marquee setup rather than a basic shelter, with attention given to presentation, comfort and layout.

Our Approach

For both events, we supplied and installed a 4m x 8m traditional pole-style marquee, positioned to fit comfortably within the available garden space while maintaining clear internal walkways.

The setup included:

• Internal marquee lining for a clean, bright interior
• Hard flooring with carpet overlay to provide a stable and comfortable surface
• Festoon lighting for practical illumination and a warm atmosphere
• Tables dressed with spandex covers
• Chairs finished with bows for a coordinated, celebratory look

Given the restricted access, installation was planned carefully in advance. All components were moved through the property in stages, with care taken to protect internal areas during setup and dismantling.

The Outcome

Both installations were completed successfully, providing a comfortable, sheltered and well-presented space suitable for family events regardless of weather conditions.

The client’s decision to rebook MBC Hires for a second year reflects confidence in our reliability, attention to detail and ability to manage challenging site conditions without compromising on finish or safety.
